Industrial
Design
Our core staff and the heart of Daedalus Design is industrial design. Our industrial
designers give shape to products, creating the customer's first impression and defining
the user's experience.
Engineering
We provide mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and software programming. We
are also experienced in developing documentation packages, sourcing parts, and
transitioning products to manufacture.
Product Positioning
We consider a product's appearance to be a key element of the communication between a
company and their customer. We develop product forms, colors, and materials that reinforce
the company's identity, and define the product's position in the marketplace. Through
focus groups, customer interviews and market research, we check our design intent against
market expectations.
Human Factors
Our staff includes members of the Human Factors Society, and a Carnegie Mellon University
human factors instructor. We maintain an extensive library of human factors standards,
with a particular emphasis on medical devices. We are experienced in conducting and
documenting user tests, and observing the use of products in the field. To supplement our
staff, and as an outside check on our work, we maintain ties with other human factors
specialists, ethnographers, and hazard analysts.
