Remote Harness

Working with Joy Global, Daedalus designers created a harness to support users of the Continuous Mining Remote. The harness was a new product for Joy Global - previous remote controls for the Mining Machine were simply held or clipped to the operator’s belt, resulting in fatigue and muscle tension on the part of the operator.

Our harness was designed to distribute the weight of the remote control across the user’s shoulders and to hold the remote in the optimum position for use, both of which reduced tension and fatigue. The harness also included reflectors for safety and replaceable support clips.

When the remote and the harness were shown at the Bluefield Coal Show in West Virginia, the harness itself generated quite a bit of excitement.
