Pharmaceutical Cabinet

An intelligent, networked, secure medication-dispensing cabinet prevents errors while accelerating treatment and reducing cost. Located on the patient floors of hospitals, nurses' station cabinets are networked to the hospital pharmacy-based medication sorting and dispensing robot.

We first joined the project team to help write the specifications. While our client focused on software and marketing, we developed the configuration, appearance, and user interaction. We were also responsible for the mechanical and electrical engineering of the cabinet, drawer, and lid locking /release mechanisms, and the provision of three working prototypes for the American Society of Hospital meeting in Atlanta, in December of 1997. The successful launch in Atlanta led to the immediate ordering of 700 units, establishing the product in this fast-growing market segment.
