Daedalus Returns to Design Lives Here

On April 13, 2023, several of our engineers were thrilled to participate in WQED's Design Lives Here, marking a return to in-person volunteering for the event. Design Lives Here is a semester-long program aimed at engaging middle school students in design challenges that foster an interest in engineering, technology, and manufacturing careers. The program concludes with the Invention Convention, a hands-on and minds-on event.

Mechanical Designer Luke Yount and Lead Mechanical Engineer Keith Heffley lent their assistance to kids participating in a challenge that involved constructing a rubber band powered boat capable of traversing a water-filled gutter. Meanwhile, Senior Software Engineers Rich Huber and Gregory Smith aided in a challenge to create a ping pong ball carrier that could quickly travel across a zipline.
